Burr Ridge, IL – Railhead Corporation has been awarded the contract to supply and install high definition/4K onboard video systems for Genesee & Wyoming, Inc. (G&W). Railhead will be providing the latest Locomotive Digital Video Recorder (LDVR4K) systems and Twin View and Wedge cameras fleetwide on all Genesee & Wyoming shortlines. The Railhead Systems are being installed to support Genesee & Wyoming safety initiatives.
The LDVR4K system will consist of Railhead’s forward-facing Twin View camera. This unique Twin View camera (wide & narrow) consists of two cameras in one housing and more accurately replicates the engineer’s point of view. The heated exterior wedge camera will be installed on the back of the locomotive to provide coverage of the rear area of the locomotive. The video from all cameras is stored on the rugged digital video recorder built specifically for the demanding freight rail industry.
These latest technology video systems are currently being installed at Genesee & Wyoming locations across the country. Railhead is providing installation services for all locations from New York to California to Florida and several locations in between.
Railhead’s powerful combination of LDVRs, cameras and video management software will enable Genesee & Wyoming to reduce maintenance and operating costs; reduce risk and liability; and improve efficiency. More importantly, the Railhead LDVR4K will help G&W deliver on their safety initiatives by providing access to crucial information and ensure video will be available in the event of an incident.
