Crash-Hardened Memory Module (CHMM) with Multiple Storage Options

The Railhead Crash-Hardened Memory Module (CHMM) or Audio and Image Recording System Memory Module, is a passenger and freight rail-ready platform that meets both FRA and IEEE industry standards for Event Recorder crash-worthy memory (ERMM). The Railhead CHMM is designed to withstand even the most severe impacts and temperature extremes. Available with different levels of storage capacity and mounting options to fit any cab car or locomotive. Set up is easy with a single cable that plugs into a frontpanel port on the Railhead LDVR4K recorder. Our advanced technology manages data anomalies and improves data consistency to reduce write operations and optimize SSD speed and lifespan.

The FWT-RR-POE (Fleet Wide Tracker Rail Router) is the backbone of the onboard monitoring solution. It is designed to be scalable, modular, and expandable all while providing reliable high-speed 4G/LTE broadband and Wi-Fi communications for consolidated connectivity on all onboard devices. Rugged and reliable, the FWT is designed and manufactured specifically for mobile applications and features enterprise-grade security and management. The FWT provides remote access to video, audio, system, and event logs. It is provisioned to be easily updated for additional capabilities such as engine controller integration, fuel integration, as well as back-office monitoring.

Railhead Corporation's System Management Software (RSM) enhances operational oversight by integrating fuel monitoring data with event recorder information, synchronizing both with Railhead Fleet-Wide Tracker (FWT) recorded audio and video feeds. This integration enables users to graphically visualize fuel tank volumes alongside critical operational events and corresponding audiovisual records, facilitating comprehensive analysis and streamlined diagnostics. The RSM software supports remote viewing and playback of Locomotive Digital Video Recorder (LDVR) data, providing seamless administration and real-time access to system logs. Additionally, the Fleet Wide Tracker (FWT) system allows for real-time monitoring of various data channels, including event recorder, video, and fuel data, enhancing the ability to detect deviations from normal procedures and improve maintenance scheduling.

Railhead System’s Solid-State Drives provides the rugged crash-worthiness that is required in the Rail Industry. Solid state drive have no moving parts, unlike the old traditional rotating (mechanical) hard disk drives. Eliminating moving parts reduces the risk of failure in the event of an accident.

  • The solid-state drives are more tolerant to shock, vibration and temperature than their older counterparts.
  • Railhead’s LDVR4K supports having two drives installed which can be setup to run in a RAID mirroring configuration. This allows for data redundancy between the two drives and protects against single drive failures.
